Privacy Policy
Permy keeps your driving log on your iPhone. There is no Permy account, no advertising, no analytics and no Permy server. We do not collect, sell or share your information.
What Permy stores on your device
To keep your practice log, Permy saves the following in the app's storage on your iPhone:
- The learner's name, licensing state and the requirement pathway you choose
- Each drive's date, start and end time, time zone, notes, bad-weather flag and any night-minute correction you enter
- An approximate location and place name for each drive, used to work out sunset and sunrise
- Supervisors' names, their relationship to the learner and, if you add it, a driver's license number
- Your practice settings, such as personal goals or your own night setting
This information never leaves your device unless you choose to export or share it.
Location
Location is optional. If you allow it, Permy asks for approximate location only while the app is in use, and uses it on your device to calculate sunset and sunrise so night driving is counted correctly. Permy never uses location in the background. You can pick a city instead, and you can turn location off at any time in iOS Settings.
Apple services
When you search for a city, the search text is sent to Apple's MapKit service, which handles it under Apple's privacy policy. If Permy offers an App Store purchase, Apple processes the payment; Permy never sees your payment details or Apple Account information and only checks on your device whether a purchase is active.
Exports and backups
PDF, CSV and JSON files you export contain your driving records. You decide where they go through the iOS share sheet or Files. JSON backups are not encrypted, so keep them somewhere you trust. Your iPhone's own backups (iCloud Backup or a computer) may include Permy's data, as set up in iOS.
Keeping and deleting your data
Your records stay on your iPhone until you edit or delete them, replace them by restoring a backup, or delete the app. Deleting Permy removes its data from the device; files you exported stay wherever you saved them.
Children and teens
Permy is meant for learner drivers and the adults who supervise them. Because Permy has no accounts and collects no personal information from anyone, it does not collect information from children.
Changes to this policy
If Permy's handling of information changes, this page will be updated and the effective date above will change.
